Anyone have boys? Do they talk constantly about the games they are playing on the Wii? Do they talk about computer games far too much? Do you sometimes think to yourself – why can’t we have a proper conversation where you talk to me and I talk to you about things happening in our lives?
My son used to love playing Moshi Monsters and I found he would not stop talking about the game after he had played it. He would chat in the playground with his friends about it and then come home and tell me who was doing what in the game. It was becoming all too consuming for me and him so I knew I needed to reign it in. I wanted to hear something else!
I cut back on his usage on playing Moshe Monsters and his interest wained.
We don’t have a Wii, Playstation, any type of games console ’at the moment’ for that reason. I dislike him being addicted to games, playing them, talking about them non-stop. He is still allowed on my laptop and keeps to a time set by both of us and he plays lots of different games, not just one. Some of his friends have a Wii and so for him to go and play at his friends and play on their Wii is a real treat.
How do you co-operate with your children so they get what they want and are not left behind with technology?
For me, it’s 15 – 30 minutes over the weekend on the laptop.
What are your rules when it comes to the Wii or something similar?
