1. Listening Ear

2. An Explanation

3. An opportunity to negotiate

4. Consistency

5. Promises to be kept

6. Help with making decisions and solving problems

7. Routine

8. Time

9. Understanding

10.Give them choice

Great list. I read it out to my 16 year old daughter, she wanted you to add the word “money”.. LOL (but she is kidding)

I totally agree!! My own Mother never did any of those things hence why I no longer want/have her in my life.

Time is very important, but it is the type of time in my experiance that is key. The rest yep, sounds great to me

From memories of my own childhood I would agree! For my own list I would change time to quality time, and I would add ‘undivided attention’. Good list though. I agree

Another great post. I’m really enjoying your blogs. One I’m working on is ‘consistency’ – I’ve realized that so much of how we react as parents is determined by what space we, the grown ups, are in. This can be confusing. So my 1-word mantra in those moments is now: consistency! Thank you!
