Denise Van Outen , Naomi RichardsFor the past few months I have been working on a new campaign with DryNites – the childcare brand which provides pyjama pants and bed mats for children who are attempting to overcome the bedwetting phase. They approached me asking if I would be their Confidence Coach for the Confident Kids 24/7 campaign.

The campaign aims to provide parents with helpful tools and advice to boost their child’s confidence and overcome the challenge of wetting – so of course, I said yes!

Bedwetting is a perfectly normal part of growing up and affects almost 600,000 children in the UK every year. Many children wet the bed due to stress, worry, anxiety, trauma and situations changing in their life. It is not just something associated with young children. It can be upsetting for the child as it makes them question who they are and what the bed-wetting says about them.

I have been working with DryNites and with their celebrity ambassador Denise Van Outen. Together, we are hoping to help parents recognise the value of boosting confidence and self-esteem in their children both day and night. We are doing this by sharing  simple, confidence boosting-tips that parents can use with their children through social media and the press.

Here Are Some Of Those DryNites Tips

  • Try to ensure  your child has a structured bedtime routine so they know what is going to happen next. Structure provides security for children and makes them feel safe. A relaxed bedtime will also help them to relax.
  • Focus on your child’s daytime routine, not on what happened at night. Talk about their day with them and get them to talk positively about what they did and their achievements
  • Emphasise to your child how well they are doing in other areas of their life and highlight how grown up they are becoming.
  • Encourage your child to make a few decisions of their own. Even if it is, ‘What do you want to do today?’ or ‘What book would you like to read?’ You could even suggest they read to you instead of you reading to them.

It is going to be a brilliant campaign. As well as using the tips DryNites pyjama pants can be invaluable as they offer discreet, age-appropriate protection for your child to help them feel as grown-up at night as they do during the day.

We really hope that we can boost the self-esteem of children – young and not so young – so that they understand why this is happening and are able to feel good 24/7 despite what is happening whilst they sleep.
